Course description: Akkadian, and its dialects Babylonian and Assyrian, were spoken from about 2400 BC until 70 AD. The language is known from a great many texts written in so called "cuneiform" script. During the course, students learn the script and the grammar, after which texts from various periods and genres will be studied.
Total duration: 5 semesters. It is possible to take 2 more tutorials of 4 ects each in the third year.
