Course description: In this course we will look at the oldest form of Sanskrit, that of the Vedas, a collection of hymns and ritual texts dating from about 1200 to 800 B.C. After a discussion of the grammatical differences between this and later forms of Sanskrit, we will read several hymns from the Rigveda.
Total duration: 1 semester.
