Oromo

Oromo is a Cushitic language, spoken in the southern half of Ethiopia and in the northern districts of Kenya. In Ethiopia it is spoken by some 15 million speakers, in various dialects. There it functions, together with Amharic, as a lingua franca for speakers of other minority languages of the region.

Boraana Oromo straddles the Ethiopian-Kenyan border, it is one of the major dialects of Oromo. In language and life-style Boraana Oromo are supposed to represent the "pure, traditional" Oromo.
