Course description: | Based on the 'Integrated Korean' coursebooks, students do exercises to develop a basic fluency in spoken Korean. During the course, students will practise conversations through roleplaying assignments. Furthermore, there will be essay assignments bearing on the required reading that has been discussed in class. Students further increase their command of the language with the help of audio-visual course materials. A coursebook on the fundamental properties of the Korean language will be discussed, and we will do exercises from that book. Students will learn the Korean alphabet, as well as the Chinese characters that are used in Korean, and practise the acquired knowledge with simple texts. Some attention will also be devoted to ways in which Korean can be written in our own alphabet. An overview of elementary Korean grammar is also offered. |
